About
Mike has been an active musician for 40 years.
He has worked as a musical director, composer, producer and engineer with many professional artists, has performed over a thousand gigs across the world, played on over 50 albums and written over 300 songs. Good music is what is important to him. He has played everything from Punk, Blues, Jazz, Ska, Country, Americana and Indy Rock to Pop.
As a player he seeks to ‘serve the song’ and to complement and extenuate the artists performance.
Focus
Mike has played all genres. He just likes playing good music. As noted, Mike focusses on what the song and the artist needs, rather than demonstrating his instrumental prowess (unless that is what is required). He specialises in double bass, fretless and fretted bass. He also plays rhythm guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobro and most string instruments.
Mike is available for session work, studio and live, dep work and any interesting original music projects. He has cowritten with several artists. He has his own studio and can work remotely.
